As we anticipate an announcement from SCOTUS overturning Roe v. Wade let us not forget the invisable story that cannot be told. The Story of Abortion.
This is a win for the sanctity of life.
The leaked Supreme Court Decision regarding Roe v Wade is the news the pro-life movement have been fighting for and eagerly anticipating for nearly 50 years. With this change, over two dozen states will be abortion-free due to their trigger laws and state constitutional laws.
The pro-abortion movement will marshal their forces, attack the court and make every effort to codify into federal law their positions. The battle to make abortion unthinkable will become more intense as blue states seek to codify abortion until birth while red states seek to protect life from its very beginning. As the discussion intensifies, it is crucial to have well-spoken women who are advocates for life.
The key to a world where abortion is truly rare will be increasing the knowledge and understanding of those this issue impacts most: women. Advocates of Roe V Wade have championed abortion as legal, safe and rare. There have been over 62 million abortions since the inception of Roe V Wade. This sobering number indicates that abortion is not rare, it has become a form of birth control. It is demeaning to the intelligence, capability, and humanity of women to believe we cannot find a better option for family planning.
This news brings great responsibility to those who stand to protect the lives of the unborn. We must fund pregnancy resource centers, we must work nonstop to help women facing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know where to turn, and we must support policies to aid families, not tear them apart. Join me in celebrating this announcement by donating to and supporting Pro-Life Utah. This organization has been leading through example in advocating for women in crisis in Utah.
As reported, the court’s presumed decision that there is no federal right to abortion and that it is a state’s right issue—to be decided and governed by those at that level—brings the court toward an interpreter and defender of the Constitution, not an unelected and unaccountable group who legislates from the bench. The courts should never overstep their bounds and enter the arena reserved specifically for the legislative branch, namely the ability to write and pass laws.

Simplify The Tax Codes: Our current system of tax preferences and credits is too complex and encourages favoritism by allowing the government and special interest to pick winners and losers. As a tax accountant for small businesses for over 25 years, I have seen first-hand what Daniel Webster said: “The power to tax is the power to destroy or control.” Onerous taxes punish and disincentivize hard-working Utahns.
Control Federal Spending: The federal government doesn’t have a revenue problem – it has a spending problem. Taxpayer dollars are wasted on special interests, fraud, corruption and bloated government programs. We need common sense changes and discipline in Washington. Firm budgets, closing loopholes, and increasing accountability will decrease spending and the national debt.
Fight for Local Control: As a small business owner and county councilwoman, I know firsthand that the federal government can stifle growth and prosperity. It will be my duty as your representative in Congress to get the federal government out of your way, stop one size fits all policies, and manage our own resources,
Defend Life: All human beings, from the moment of conception, are persons with intrinsic worth and possess the fundamental right to life. While Roe V Wade remains the law of the land, women in crisis situations should know the physical and emotional impacts of any decision she makes. She should have access to the best pregnancy education and care and knowledge of the numerous options available for the care of an unplanned child.
Support the 2nd Amendment: The right of Americans to keep and bear arms is essential to a free society. Incidents of violence committed by dangerous provoke understandable revulsion and grief. However, lawmakers should not rush to create new laws that violate constitutional rights while ignoring the real root causes of complex societal problems or why these individuals commit such heinous crimes.
Restore Religious Liberty: True Tolerance means allowing individuals to hold different beliefs and live in accordance with those beliefs. Americans should remain free to believe and to act in the public square based on their beliefs without fear of government retaliation. All people do not have to hold the same beliefs to recognize that people should have the freedom to run their businesses in accordance with their values.
Uphold Family Values: Marriage and family are the building blocks of society; they are essential to protect the most vulnerable in society -children. Research shows children do better when raised by a married mother and father. Pro-family policy should reflect that data. The government and society should not place the interests and desires of adults over the privacy and safety of children and the law must protect children from those who would abuse the law.
Cut Federal Regulations: Not all regulations are unwarranted, but volumes of regulations lack rational justification and cost hundreds of billions of dollars per year. Regulations should be reviewed and approved by Congress, not created unilaterally by unelected officials.
Fight for Voter Integrity: A 2012 study by the Pew Research Center showed that 24 million voter registrations were inaccurate, out of date or duplicate. It further found that 2.8 million people registered in two or more states, and 1.8 million deceased individuals remained on voter rolls. State election officials should require photographic identification for both absentee and in-person voting and should work with the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security information to verify citizenship and the authenticity of voter registration applications.
Strengthen Our National Defense: Weakness invites aggression. The United States must modernize and sustain its forces. The modernization of traditional military assets such as the missile defense systems (GBSD) and non-traditional, such as cybersecurity are crucial to ensuring our continued security.
Russia: Russia is an autocracy that sustains its hold on political power by force, fraud, and an ideological assault on the West. The United States needs to approach Russia as it is, not as we wish it was. The federal response to Russian aggression and hostilities should be predictable and clear.
Advocate for Common-Sense Immigration Policy: Keeping our nation secure means providing a strong border defense. We have to know who is coming into our country, and how long they will be staying, it’s just common sense. Real immigration reform starts with serious attention and commitment from the executive branch to implement current laws. Amnesty does not address or fix the problem; it only piles unaffordable costs onto your already failing entitlement programs.
Education: Every parent deserves the chance to choose the education that best fits the unique learning needs of their child. Decisions about curriculum and spending are best made at the most local level possible. The Federal government has become too involved in education at the expense of individual students.
